Sri Lanka on the 7th place in the Test rankings

Sri Lanka remains on the 7th place in the Test rankings based on the ICC ratings released on 9th March 2017.
Also Sri Lanka stands on the 6th place in ODI rankings while it stays in the 8th place in T20 rankings. It is expected that Sri Lanka will improve in its rankings after the conclusion of the ongoing series against Bangladesh.

The centenary ‘Battle of the Blues in Kandy” the Trinity –Antonian begins today.

The centenary encounter of the most popular big match in the hill capital also known as the ‘Battle of the Blues in Kandy” the Trinity –Antonian begins today at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium. St. Anthony’s College and Trinity College are the two of the oldest Colleges in Kandy and the Trinity-Antonian encounter is also the 6th oldest Inter-School Big Match in Sri Lanka.

Today was the 3rd day first test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

Bangladesh were bowled out for 312 runs in their first innings.  Today was the 3rd day of the first test being played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Galle international stadium. Earlier Sri lanka made 494 in their first innings.

India faces England in the ICC Women's World Cup opener next June.

Former champions India will face hosts England at Derby, while New Zealand meets qualifier Sri Lanka in Bristol on the opening day of the ICC Women’s World Cup. In a release, International Cricket Council said that the tournament gets underway on June 24. It will see 28 matches being held over 21 days. A round-robin between the world’s eight best teams will conclude with the semifinals at Bristol and Derby before the final at Lord’s on July 23rd.

Sri Lanka “A” plays against England “A” in the first ODI at Dambulla today.

The first One Day International match between Sri Lanka “A” and England “A” will be played at Rangiri Dambulla international Cricket Stadium today. Ashan Priyanjan will captain the Sri Lankan “A” team. The 2nd ODI will be played on Saturday at Kurunegala.

President declare opens Digana track and field stadium today.

President Maithripala Sirisena today declared open the Digana track and field stadium which has been built as the largest and fully fledged ground of the Central Province. The stadium consists a track, a swimming pool, a pavilion, an indoor training facility, a volleyball court, a netball court and a gymnasium.

New England captain to seek advice of former skippers.

New England captain Joe Root says he will seek the advice of his predecessors before taking charge for the first time in July. The 26-year-old has replaced Alastair Cook despite only leading in four previous first-class matches. Root told media that it would be silly not to talk to people who have been in this position before. He also added that he may speak to a few people away from cricket to get different perspectives on things

South Africa whitewashed Sri Lanka in the ODI series and topped the international ranking.

South Africa won the 5th and Final ODI against Sri Lanka played at Centurion yesterday. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. South Africa scored 384 for loss of 6 wickets in the 50 overs.

South Africa beat Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI by 7 wickets.

 

South Africa beat Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI played in Johannesburg yesterday by 7 wickets. Batted first Sri Lanka were all out for 163 runs in 39.2 over. The only successful was Niroshan Dickwella who scored 74. In replay South Africa passed the victory target only loosing 3 wickets in 32 overs. South Africa have now sealed the 5 match series 3 to nil.

3rd ODI between Sri Lanka and South Africa will be played today.

The 3rd ODI between South Africa and Sri Lanka will be played in Johannesburg today. The match scheduled to play 5.00 pm Sri Lankan time. South Africa leads the five match series two to nil at present.
