Australia have been bowled out for just 85 runs on the first day of the second Test against South Africa at Hobart which is their lowest total in a home test in 32 years.
On a green surface in damp and overcast conditions, first 4 wickets of the Australian innings fell for 8 runs while the next 5 wickets for 17 runs after losing the toss. Vernon Philander took 5 wickets for 21 who was well supported by Kyle Abbott who bagged 3 wickets for 41. Although Captain Steve Smith ended 48 not out, Australia slumped to their lowest home total against the Proteas.
In reply South Africans were 171 for the loss of 5 wickets at stumps of day one.
