Additional trains operational from today, for the convenience of pilgrims converging towards Anuradhapura in view of Poson Full Moon Poya Day

The Department of Railways states, for the convenience of pilgrims converging towards Anuradhapura in view of Poson Full Moon Poya Day, twenty six additional trains will be operational from today.

These additional trains, which will begin commuting from Colombo Fort and Maho Junction will be operational until Tuesday.

Thereby, the first train left for Anuradhapura from the Colombo Fort Railway Station, this afternoon.
Trains bound for Anuradhapura from Colombo Fort will also leave tomorrow at 3.30 am, 8.30 am, 12.45 pm and 6.10pm. On Poson Full Moon Poya Day which is this coming Sunday, trains will leave Colombo Fort bound for Anuradhapura at 3.30 am, 9.00 am and 6.10 pm.
The Department of Railways further states, passengers can travel in trains operating between Anuradhapura and Mihintale free-of-charge, from tomorrow. The first train will leave the Anuradhapura Railway Station bound for Mihintale, at 6.00 am tomorrow morning. This toll free service will be available until Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport states, a special joint transport plan will be in operation from today until Tuesday morning.
The CTB have deployed 600 additional buses, and these buses will be operational covering the zones of Colombo, Kandy, Gampaha and the North Western Province. Private bus owners have also agreed to run their buses, right upto Mihintale.
