His Eminence Malcom Cardinal Ranjith says that the people who accepted the terrorism will never have a solace. The His Eminence made these comments while addressing the gathering at the St. Anthony’s Shrine Kochchikade yesterday.

His Eminence Malcom Cardinal Ranjith blessed the people who supported the reconstruction of the Church. Special thank was given to the Government and the Sri Lanka Navy.

His Eminence Malcom Cardinal Ranjith blessed the shrine before conducting Vespers yesterday.

St. Anthony’s Shrine Kochchikade has been reopened for devotees after repairs yesterday.

The Church was damaged in the Easter Sunday Bombings. It has been repaired using a sum of 45 million Rupees. The Colombo Municipal Council pledged a total of 25 million Rupees for this endeavor.

The Minister of Housing also contributed in repairing the shrine, while Sri Lanka Navy took an active part in completion of repairing of interior and exteriors of the structure.

The historic Catholic shrine dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua will celebrate the 185th feast of the Saint today at 10.00 am with a festive High Mass offered at the Shrine, presided over by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

This year, due to the tragic loss of lives, the church authorities had decided not to have the usual ceremonies associated with the feast annually.
