The Prime Minister says he will not betray the sovereignty of the country and the independence of the parliament

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says although, cabinet meetings are not convened, the cabinet will not be dysfunction. The Prime Minister point out that the cabinet has been established with the approval of the parliament. The Parliament Select Committee has also been appointed by the parliament. Therefore, the cabinet has no power to disrupt the functions of the Parliament Select Committee. The Prime Minister made these remarks at a meeting held yesterday at the temple trees with the civil society activists and trade union leaders. Addressing the gathering Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says he will not betray the sovereignty of the country and the independence of the parliament. The Prime Minister added that when intelligence officers give evidence in front of the parliament select committee media can be ousted from the proceedings. The premier further said that religious reconciliation council will be established to strengthen reconciliation among religions.
