The Telecommunication, Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment Ministry, signs an MoU with Microsoft

Today is World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The main objective of this day is to focus upon providing the opportunity for everyone to be able to use artificial intelligence.

Issuing a release to mark this day President Maithripala Sirisena points out, objectives in the path of sustainable development are more attainable when avenues of utilizing artificial intelligence are pursued.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe issuing a message pointed out, artificial intelligence is a boost to a country in formulating most efficient development plans, in their operations, and maintenance.

The Telecommunication, Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft in Sri Lanka, to provide effective citizen services.
The MoU will cover areas such as
- The establishment and implementation of the Digital Transformation Blueprint for the Government
- Public Sector Capacity Building and Productivity Enhancement
- A Software Procurement Program to ensure a Secure and Seamless Collaborative Working Environment for the Public Sector
- A Cyber-Security Risk Assessment across the Government
- Skills Development for students with a special focus on the implementation of ‘Smart Classrooms’ and Digital Education;
-Technical assistance and expertise on the E-Government Policy and Plan.

Minister of Telecommunication, Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment: Harin Fernando says, the agreement will take us a step closer to realizing the island’s e-Government Policy and Plans for Digital Transformation.
