The leaders of Sri Lanka and Iran hold bilateral talks

Visiting President Maithripala Sirisena met his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani in Tehran for bilateral talks yesday. Our special correspondent Rashan Kodithuwakku reports that President Sirisena thanked the Iranian government for its continuous support for the Uma-Oya project, rural electrification and railway development.

Following the discussion between the Sri Lankan and Iranian Presidents, the two countries signed five MOUs on health, medicine, standardization, arts and technology and against drug trafficking. President Sirisena is also due to attend an investment and business forum organized by the Iranian Board of Investment during his official visit.
