It has been identified that the Estate Sector needs to be provided with basic facilities for it to contribute to the country’s economy on a large scale.

Today is the 16th day of the Committee Stage Discussion of the Budget - 2018. Proposed expenditure titles of the Ministry of National Co-Existence, Dialogue and Official Language, Ministry of Hill Country New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development and the Ministry of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs were taken up for debate in Parliament, today.

Joining in the debate, Minister Douglas Devananda stated that the Estate sector needs to be provided with basic facilities in order to uplift the sector into contributing to the country’s economy on a large scale. He also appraised Minister Mano Ganeshan for his efforts in solving the issue on national languages.

MP Harshana Rajakaruna added that the victories received at the previous Presidential election and General elections were victories for Co-Existence.
