The GCE Ordinary Level Examination to commence next Tuesday.

The GCE Ordinary Level Examination will commence next Tuesday. It will be conducted for students sitting the exam in both the new and the old syllabus, until the 21st of this month. The Commissioner General of Examinations B Sanath Pujitha has released a set of guidelines for school principals, students and their parents. The Exam will commence at 8.30 a.m. and candidates need to be in their respective examination halls by at least 8.10 a.m. Candidates need to produce their Admission card along with their National Identity card or valid passport. Invigilators have been given special instructions to be attentive to cheating at examinations by the use of Smart Wrist watches, Mobile phones and other electronic devices.

Offenders will be barred from siting any public examination conducted by the Department of Examinations for a period of five years. Their examination results will also be annulled. The invigilators have also been advised to notify the Department of examinations and the Police Headquarters should there be any interference from outside parties hindering the conduct of the exam.

Unauthorized persons are strictly prohibited from entering examination centres while the exam is being conducted. Thereby, during the period the exam is conducted construction work, holiday classes, sports activities and various celebrations have been prohibited within the school premises. Candidates and parents can notify the Department of Examinations of any irregularities by dialling short code 1911. They could also contact the Police emergency Line on short code 119.
