Ministers point out that the government has presented realistic budget proposals.

Debate on the second reading of the budget began in parliament today for the fourth day. Opening the debate minister Vajira Abeywarddena said the government has granted over 30 billion rupees to develop 18,022 Grama Niladari division in the country this year. An additional sum of seven billion rupees has been spent to provide compensations to the flood and earthslips victims. 12 million rupees will be spent on paying the increased salaries of the public servants for next year.


Parliamentarian K. Kodishwaran said the budget proposalas will lead to accelerate the national economy. He praised the government for allocations funds for the development in the north and east.
State minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that a realistic budget proposals have been presented this year. Parliamentarian Dr. Nalin de Jayatissa said the executive presidency system and the open economic policy led the country to deterioration.
