Senior writers were felicitated by the president

The literary award ceremony jointly organized by the National Radio and Godage and Brothers Private Limited was held this evening at Kumarathunga Studio. President Maithripala Sirisena graced the occasion as chief guest. 15 senior writers were felicitated with awards and cash prizes.

Addressing the gathering Chairman of the SLBC Senior Lawyer Sudarshana Gunawardena said the National Radio is rendering a unique service to the nation by safeguarding the culture, literature and the indigenous traditions. As the oldest electronic media institution in the country the SLBC is committed to build up national reconciliation in the country.

The President distributed certificates to the winners of the competition organized among school students in parallel with the awards ceremony.

Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media Dr. R.S.H. Samarathunga, Director General of the SLBC Erananda Hettiarachchi and Working Director Dhanushka Ramanayake were also present.
