President promises to fulfill the aspirations of the people who brought this government to power.

President Maithripala Sirisena insists that no room will be left to hamper the trust placed by the general public on the government. He said all political parties have a responsibility to support government’s development programme despite their political stands. Some elements are trying to re-gain power in order to obtain personal benefits rather than serving the common man. President expressed these views at a public rally held yesterday at Ali-Gar Public grounds of Eravur.
Speaking further at this rally President said it is important that the rulers should fulfill the important responsibilities today without keeping those tasks for tomorrow. The present government has implemented many development programmes in the journey of taking the country forward. The government has declared this year as “the Year to alleviate poverty".
The people of this country voted for this government not to repeat the same mistakes the previous regime. The common masses of this country expect the present government to eliminate fraud, corruption and minimize wastage in government expenditure.
Accordingly the government has implemented many programmes and work plans at the provincial level including eastern province with the aim of establishing  sustainable era.The rally was organized as a part of Sustainable Future programme of the government. Many dignitaries including opposition leader R.Sampanthan participated on this occasion.
Meanwhile, President Sirisena also made an observation tour to many place in the Eastern Province yesterday. President also paid more attention to the education sector in the eastern province. He visited Muslim Maha Vidyalaya in Sammanthurai and Kalmunei Mahamood Ladies College and inquired about the shortcomings of the school children.
