President Maithripala Sirisena says the country needs voice of the educated and patriotic people instead of mere bragging. He added that he is ready to give the correct leadership to the country as the chief public servant of the country. The president requested all the quarters of the country to join hands to create a more prosperous nation. He was speaking at the felicitation programme titled “Uththamabhiwanda” which was held at the BMICH yesterday.
The event was organized to commemorate the heroes who gave leadership to Great Rebellion of 1817–1818, also known as the 1818 Uva–Wellassa uprising, which is considered the inception of Sri Lanka’s fight for freedom. The President pointed out that current issues can be solved by intelligence than mere force. He pointed out that anyone can criticize the problems. But it is essential to figure out correct solutions. The President further said modern technology should be used to betterment of the country while filtering their applicability.
